8 Week Joinery Challenge

Join in with the rest of the Makers Mob Community as we embark on the “8 Week Joinery Challenge” together starting December 28, 2019. This course will require weekly participation as the The Samurai Carpenter teaches you [step-by-step] how to make 7 of his favorite joints, 1 per week, using only hand tools (and a drill). Once you have completed this portion of the challenge you will be given a final project challenge that will incorporate the skills you learned throughout the 8 Week Joinery Challenge and combine them into one practical project. You will have the opportunity to interact with The Samurai Carpenter and the rest of the Maker Mob Community each week in a private, Joinery Challenge Members Only, live hangout as we discuss the task specific to that week. This challenge is perfect for the anyone who is looking to grow in their hand tool skills, joinery knowledge and participate with the entire community as we learn and take on the challenge together. Can you complete the 8 Week Joinery Challenge?

Finger Joint

In this weeks joinery challenge we will be using 1x4 material to make a simple finger joint. This joint is commonly used when making a box and is also my preferred alternative to a dovetail.

Double Through Tenon

In this weeks joinery challenge we will be using 2x4 material to make a double through tenon. This is another one of my favorite joints and is often found in my woodworking designs such as my deck furniture set.

Tusk Tenon

In this weeks joinery challenge we will be using 2x4 material to make a tusk tenon. Again, this can be found in many of my designs and typically used to secure a rail to a post or leg.
